Personal visit leads to matching grant from Co-operators Group

The Learning Enrichment Foundation has been actively involved in Community Economic Development for over 20 years. LEF serves the unemployed, the private sector and the community at large. One of their dreams is to serve everyone regardless of funding requirements.

Two years ago, faced with reduced government funding, LEF purchased a license to BIG Online in order to find alternate funding sources and increase their independence and financial stability.

Adele Peden, Manager describes LEF's success, "Having access to BIG Online enabled us to identify other companies and foundations interested in supporting our programs. Armed with this information we sent letters of intent to approximately 100 prospective funders and raised $52, 000."

The Crème de la crème of the fund-raising effort was a visit by representatives from the Co-operators Group to see first hand how their donation was making a difference to the community.

As a result of their efforts, LEF is proud to include the following new funding partners:

  • Royal Bank of Canada
  • Sears Canada Inc.
  • Co-operators Group Ltd.
  • George Weston Ltd.
